Prague, Vienna & Budapest
Visiting the Habsburg capitals with special sightseeing and arrangements
Itinerary 2 - 2009 departures
(Excluding Feb 14 & Sep 19 2009)
Day 1 Fly from London Heathrow or Gatwick to Prague and transfer to the traditional 4-star Hotel Rott for three nights.
Day 2 A morning walking tour of the Old Town with coffee and cake at the Grand Café.
Day 3 By tram to visit Strahov Monastery and Prague Castle on foot. Visit St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace and Golden Lane. After free time for lunch continue through the Lesser Quarter to Charles Bridge.
Day 4 First Class rail to Vienna. After an exterior visit to Schönbrunn Palace, transfer to the 4-star Hotel Astoria for three nights. A dinner of Wienerschnitzel and Kaiserschmarren with gypsy music at a traditional restaurant.
Day 5 A walking tour including St. Stephens, the Graben, Kohlmarkt, Hofburg Imperial Palace with interior visit of the Imperial Apartments and Sisi Museum. Coffee and cake at Hotel Sacher.
Day 6 Visit the Secession building, Beethoven Frieze and Belvedere Palace including the Klimt collection.
Day 7 Travel by First Class rail (hydrofoil May-Sep) to Budapest for three nights at the 5-star InterContinental. A welcome dinner with gypsy music in a historic restaurant.
Day 8 Sightseeing with entrance to Parliament, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Heroes’ Square and City Park. Afternoon Danube cruise. Evening folklore performance.
Day 9 A tour of historic Buda on foot and by funicular visiting Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion.
Day 10 Return flight.
