Itinerary 1 - Departures Feb 14 & Sep 19 2009

Day 1
Fly from London Heathrow or Gatwick to Prague and transfer to the traditional 4-star Hotel Rott for three nights.

Day 2 A morning walking tour of the Old Town with coffee and cake at the Grand Café.

Day 3 By tram to visit Strahov Monastery and Prague Castle on foot. Visit St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace and Golden Lane. After free time for lunch continue through the Lesser Quarter to Charles Bridge.

Day 4
First Class rail to Vienna. Three nights at the 4-star Parkhotel Schönbrunn.

Day 5 A full-day tour including Belvedere Palace and Museum of Austrian Art, the Silver Chamber and Sisi Museum in the Hofburg Imperial Palace and a guided walk through the Old Town.

Day 6 Visit one of Europe’s premier collections, the Museum of Fine Arts. An optional ‘Evening at Schönbrunn’ is offered including a tour of the State Apartments, dinner at the restaurant in the main courtyard and a Strauss and Mozart concert in the Schönbrunn Orangery (£60).

Day 7 Travel by First Class rail (hydrofoil Apr-Oct) to Budapest for three nights at the 5-star InterContinental. A welcome dinner with gypsy music in a historic restaurant.

Day 8
Sightseeing with entrance to Parliament, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Heroes’ Square and City Park. Afternoon Danube cruise. Evening folklore performance.

Day 9 A tour of historic Buda on foot and by funicular visiting Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion.

Day 10 Return flight.

 

An Evening at Schonbrunn

Gather at Schönbrunn Palace in the early evening for a tour
of the State Apartments. After dinner at the restaurant in
the main courtyard, the evening naturally culminates with
a concert performance of light Viennese music, song and
dance in the Schönbrunn Orangery. Category A seats and a glass of bubbly are provided.
