Christmas Markets & Music in Vienna
Mini-cruises on the Danube with a special programme during Advent
4 nights from £549 - VJV Exclusive
In the spirit of our successful series of mini-cruises in Venice, Paris and Amsterdam, we are delighted to offer a ‘Limited Edition’ mini-cruise for the third time on board the MS Beethoven in Vienna featuring: a day cruise on the Danube to the Slovakian capital, Bratislava; an evening cruise in Vienna, a Mozart lecture and an evening of gypsy music on board; the Christmas markets.
During Advent the Christmas Markets display an abundance of decorations, present ideas and delicacies – December 5th (St Nicholas Eve) is when children receive their presents. The main Advent market is at the Town Hall (Rathaus) whilst there are decorations, traditionally-made toys and manifold specialities on display in front of Schönbrunn Palace. Bratislava, Baden and the Heiligenkreuzerhof also have markets with their own special character.
Music is an essential part of any visit to Vienna – 2006 marked the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart and Vienna was the home of Beethoven and Strauss among other famous composers (Beethoven wrote his Heiligenstädter Testament in the Vienna Woods).
