Central America

Essentially a land bridge uniting two larger land masses, Central America's landscapes are dramatic with rugged mountains and volcanoes, coastal plains, lakes, forests and jungles that sustain a fabulous wealth of flora and fauna. Its culture is based largely on the heritage of the Maya and the Spanish colonial period that have bequeathed the region with its distinctive architecture and character.
