Grand Tour of South Africa
Discovering the wildlife, dramatic scenery and tribal and colonial heritage
16 nights from £1955
South Africa is an immense country of incredible scenic, climatic and cultural contrasts. Climates range from sub-tropical on the KwaZulu-Natal coast to semi-desert in regions such as the Karoo, the scenery meanwhile ranges from the dramatic peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains to the plains of the country’s arid interior. Culturally the country embraces populations of an equally diverse nature housing Khoi-San bushmen, a number of Bantu-speaking tribes (such as the Zulu, Xhosa and Ndebele), various other non-related tribes (such as the Tswana and the Venda), a large number of Afrikaner communities descended from early Dutch settlers and a smaller number of English speaking communities dating back to Britain’s later colonisation of the coastal areas of the country.
This arrangement combines the contrasting experiences of game drives, dramatic scenery, tribal communities and the beauty of ‘the fairest Cape’. A train ride, cruise and wine-tasting enhance the experience.
