Reunion

The Indian Ocean island of Réunion is full of dramatic scenery with lush forests, abundant flora and fauna of all types, including orchids of every description, and even some white sand beaches although most have the black sand characteristic of a volcanic island. Sometimes likened to the volcanic topography of Hawaii’s islands, Reunion’s Piton de la Fournaise and Piton des Neiges volcanoes have heavily forested slopes and are home to impressive cirques, enormous crater-like features formed by the collapse of land following an eruption. A distinctive and thriving natural environment, including endemic species, survives amongst this dramatic landscape.
