In Brief

Flight - 1 night. Windhoek - 1 night. Sossusvlei area - 2 nights. Swakopmund - 2 nights. Twyfelfontein - 1 night. Etosha - 2 nights. Waterberg - 1 night. Flight - 1 night.

Day 1Fly overnight from London Heathrow via Johannesburg to Windhoek.

Day 2 On arrival, an orientation tour of Windhoek includes Christuskirche, Alte Feste and the Tintenpalast. Overnight at the 5-star Hilton Hotel in Windhoek. In the evening, enjoy dinner and wine-tasting at the Castle Hotel Heinitzburg.

Day 3 Drive via Rehoboth, home of the Baster community to Sesriem (6 hrs) for two nights at the 4-star Namib Desert Lodge.

Day 4 A visit to the dunes of Sossusvlei includes a 4x4 vehicle drive. Continue to Sesriem Canyon. Optional sundowner drive to see the petrified dunes - bookable locally.

Day 5 Travel via Gaub Pass and Kuiseb Canyon to Swakopmund (6 hrs). Two nights at the 4-star Swakopmund Hotel.

Day 6 Optional morning cruise on Walvis Bay (prebooking essential) to view the marine and bird life including dolphins and seals. Afternoon tour of the quaint seaside town of Swakopmund.

Day 7 Travel to Twyfelfontein (7 hrs) to visit the open air gallery, rock paintings and engravings and the petrified forest. Overnight at the 3-star Damara Mopane Lodge.

Day 8 Travel to Etosha National Park (6 hrs) for two nights at the 3-star Halali Camp in central Etosha, game viewing en route.

Day 9 Included full-day game drive by tour vehicle. Alternatively, take optional morning, afternoon and evening open-vehicle game drives.

Day 10 Early morning game viewing in eastern Etosha before continuing to Waterberg Plateau (6 hrs) for overnight at the 3-star Waterberg Camp. A guided walk on Waterberg Plateau.

Day 11 Visit the Kavango woodcarvers open market in Okahandja. Continue to Windhoek (3 hrs) for the flight via Johannesburg to London Heathrow.

Day 12 Arrive London.

Extension - Cape Town

Fly to Cape Town and stay at the central 4-star Townhouse Hotel with a tour of the city including Table Mountain and the Castle of the Good Hope; a tour of the Cape Peninsula including Hout Bay, Cape Point and the Good Hope Nature Reserve; dinner at the Gold Museum; district 6 museum and township tour.

Note: On the extension, the flights are with British Airways from London via Johannesburg to Windhoek, Windhoek to Cape Town and direct from Cape Town to London.
