Day 1 Fly overnight from London Gatwick to Windhoek.
Day 2 Travel to Solitaire where the local store and café retain their traditional character for two nights at the 3-star Solitaire Lodge (5 hrs).
Day 3 A visit to the dunes of Sossusvlei includes a 4x4 vehicle drive. Continue to Sesriem Canyon where the erosion of many centuries has incised a narrow gorge. Optional afternoon nature walk.
Day 4 Travel via the Namib desert, Gaub Pass, Kuiseb Canyon and Moon Valley to Swakopmund (6 hrs). Two nights at the 3-star Long Beach Hotel between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
Day 5 An optional morning cruise on Walvis Bay to view the marine and bird life including dolphins and seals. Afternoon visit to the quaint seaside town of Swakopmund.
Day 6 Travel via Outjo to the 3-star Etosha Safari camp south of Etosha National Park for overnight (6 hrs).
Day 7 Enter Etosha National Park. A full day of game viewing in the Etosha National Park. Overnight at one of the rest camps inside the park.
Day 8 Travel south to Otjiwarongo (5 hrs) and overnight at the 4-star Okonjima Main Camp. Optional afternoon activity. On departures Jan 14/28, Feb 11, Dec 16/30 2009 the overnight is at the 3-star Otjibamba Lodge which lies within its own small game ranch.
Day 9 After an optional morning game activity, visit the Kavango woodcarvers open market in Okahandja. Later a tour of Windhoek includes the Christuskirche, Alte Feste and the Tintenpalast. Continue to the airport for the overnight return flight to London Gatwick.
Day 10 Arrive London.
Extension - Cape Town
Stay at the central 4-star Townhouse Hotel including two specially commissioned private tours of Cape of Good Hope. Note: On the extension, the return flight is from Cape Town to London Gatwick via Windhoek.
