Oases & Mirages of Southern Morocco

Day 1 Fly from London Gatwick to Marrakech. Stay two nights at the Moroccan 5-star Kenzi Semiramis or Atlas Medina.

Day 2 Full-day tour of Marrakech includes lunch, the Koutoubia Minaret, the Majorelle Gardens, the Bahia Palace and Dar Si Said Palace museum of jewellery, costume, chests and doors.

Day 3 Ascend from the foot of the Atlas Mountains up winding roads to Tichka, Morocco’s highest pass to Ouarzazate. Continue via the Valley of the Draa River, to Zagora for overnight at the Moroccan 4-star Hotel Reda.

Day 4 Travel via beautiful Berber villages of the south to Erfoud for overnight at the Moroccan 4- star Hotel Belere. Optional excursion to the Merzouga Dunes on the fringes of the Sahara (bookable locally).

Day 5 After a visit of Erfoud drive to Tinghir for lunch. Visit the Gorges of Todra, then continue along the ‘Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs’ to Ouarzazate for two nights at the Moroccan 4-star Hotel Mercure.

Day 6 Sightseeing in and around Ouarzazate will include the much photographed kasbahs of Tifoultoute and Taourirt. Ouarzazate itself, a former French Foreign Legion outpost, is a haven of peace and tranquillity and was used as a set in many films.

Day 7 Visit the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Marrakech. This afternoon explore the fascinating and colourful souks of the old medina, visiting the Medersa Ben Youssef, a 14th-century religious teaching establishment. Enjoy a drink overlooking Djemma el-Fna Semiramis Square. Overnight at the Moroccan 5-star Hotel Kenzi Semiramis or Atlas Medina.

Day 8 Transfer to the airport for the return flight to Gatwick.
