Itinerary 1: July 2011 only
Day 1 Fly overnight from London to Lilongwe via Addis Ababa.
Day 2 Transfer to the 4-star Capital Hotel, Lilongwe, for one night.
Day 3 Depart for Liwonde National Park for two nights at Mvuu Camp in tented chalets. Evening game drive.
Day 4 An early morning walk amongst the unique habitat of the Shire River. Evening game drive.
Day 5 A boat safari before leaving for Zomba and two nights at the 4-star Ku Chawe Inn.
Day 6 A tour of Zomba Plateau to witness some of the country’s most stunning views and unusual natural habitat the at Queen’s View, Emperor’s View and Chingwe’s Hole.
Day 7 An early morning forest walk. Travel to Blantyre for two nights at the 4-star Mt. Soche Hotel. View the Victorian old town hall, and ancient Mandala House.
Day 8 Tour the verdant tea estates and visit Mulanje, one of the continent’s loftiest peaks. Visit Likhubula pools and waterfalls.
Day 9 En route to Senga Bay on Lake Malawi, visit Mua Mission housing a fascinating ethnographical museum. Transfer to the 4-star Hotel Livingstonia for two nights.
Day 10 A free day to relax on the shores of Lake Malawi.
Day 11 Transfer to the airport for the return overnight flight to London via Addis Ababa.
Day 12 Arrive Heathrow.
Extension - ZambIa Safari
Spend four nights at Mushroom Lodge, originally a Presidential House, on the Mfuwe Lagoon in South Luangwa National Park. Restaurant, bar, pool and 12 chalets with private facilities, lounge and a private verandah overlooking the lagoon. Transfers, park entry fees, game drives and full board are included. The final night is at Lilongwe Sanctuary Lodge on bed and breakfast basis (the drive from Lilongwe to Luangwa National Park is approx 250 kilometres part of which is on unmade, rough roads).
