Day 1 Fly overnight from London Heathrow via Nairobi to Antananarivo.
Day 2 Morning arrival and transfer to the Tana Plaza Hotel for two nights. Optional afternoon excursion to Lemur Park.
Day 3 Morning city tour of Antananarivo. Afternoon visit to the Sacred Hills of Ambohimanga.
Day 4 Travel to Andasibe (4hrs) and visit the Analamazaotra National Park home to the Indri Indri, the largest living lemur. Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge with a night walk in the private reserve of Vakona.
Day 5 Travel to Antsirabe (7hrs), known for the healing properties of its hot spring water. Afternoon city tour. Overnight at the Arotel Hotel.
Day 6 A long but scenic drive to Sahambavy (7hrs), surrounded by eucalyptus wooded slopes and tea plantations. Visit en route Ambositra, the capital of Malagasy handicrafts. Overnight at Le Lac Hotel.
Day 7 Take the train from Sahambavy to Mijilo (8hrs) with a picnic lunch. Continue to Mananjary (3hrs) for two nights at the Vahiny Lodge.
Day 8 A day excursion to the Pangalanes channel, a series of attractive lakes.
Day 9 Drive to Ranomafana National Park (4hrs) for two nights at the Setam Lodge. Nocturnal visit to the park to spot foxes and the mouse lemur.
Day 10 Walk through the Ranomafana National Park.
Day 11 Travel to Ambalavao (4hrs) through Fianarantsoa province, visiting typical southern villages. Overnight at Les Bougainvilliers Hotel.
Day 12 Travel to Ranohira (4hrs), crossing the Horombe plateaux. Visit the Isalo National Park museum. Two nights at the Isalo Ranch.
Day 13 Walk through Isalo National Park with its natural swimming pools and waterfalls.
Day 14 Travel to Toliara (4hrs) through sapphire miners’ villages. Visit Antsokay botanical gardens, then the fishing village of Ifaty (1hr). Two nights at Paradisier Hotel.
Day 15 Day at leisure.
Day 16 Fly to Antananarivo to connect with your return flight to London Heathrow via Nairobi.
Day 17 Arrive Heathrow in the early morning.
