Tripolitania 5-star Offer
Discovering the magnificent Roman sites in Libya from the comfort of a new international
5-star Hotel
4 nights from £974
For many years visitors to Libya have accepted a medium level of hotel in order to experience its amazing ancient sites. Now finally a Hotel group that we work with in many countries has taken the plunge and opened a 5-star international hotel in Tripoli, so that its ancient heritage may now be explored from a more comfortable base.
Leptis Magna and Sabratha have not been exposed to the same level of tourism and commercialisation as other parts of the Roman world and we recommend a visit now before the advent of more hotels and easing of visa regulations increase visitor numbers.
Tripolitania was a Carthaginian, Roman and later Ottoman province including the ports of ancient Oea (later renamed Tripoli), Leptis Magna and Sabratha – the latter two now UNESCO Heritage sites and the quality of the well-preserved mosaics is a feature throughout. At Leptis Magna lies the largest Roman bath complex outside Rome, a circus and theatre with much of its ornamentation and statuary intact. In Libya’s capital Tripoli, discover a thriving ancient walled medina and the Libyan National Museum, whose exhibits have been compared favourably with those at the British Museum.
