In Brief
| Nile cruise - 7 nights. |
Day 1 Fly from Gatwick to Luxor. Embark on SS Misr for
seven nights. Sail later to Esna for overnight.
Day 2 Visit the temple of Esna. Sail to Kom Ombo for
overnight stay.
Day 3 Visit the temple of Sobek and Haroeris and continue
to Aswan. Afternoon cruise by felucca or private boat to
the Kitchener Island Botanical Gardens and Elephantine
Island. Visit the Nubian Museum. Afternoon tea at the newly
restored historic Old Cataract Hotel (from Nov 2012).
Day 4 Visit to the High Dam and island temple of Philae.
Optional Sound & Light performance at Philae (bookable locally).
Day 5 Optional excursion to Abu Simbel (4 hrs
each way by road). Sail later to Edfu.
Day 6 Sail to Luxor. Visit the temple of Karnak
and Luxor Museum.
Day 7 Excursion to the Valley of the Kings,
temple of Queen Hatshepsut and Colossi of
Memnon. ‘Luxor Temple by Night’ event.
Day 8 Return flight.
Extension – Red Sea
Discover more of Egypt’s natural beauty, travelling
along the Nile and through the mountains and
desert to el-Gouna on the Red Sea (5 hrs). Relax
for five nights and view the underwater world
from a semi-submarine. Return to central Luxor
for two nights of relaxation or sightseeing.
