Abu Simbel (by road) - £69
The temples of Abu Simbel are arguably the most remarkable of all Nubian antiquities. They were discovered in the early 19th century after being buried for centuries under a sea of sand in the 1960’s, as the waters of Lake Nasser threatened to engulf them, a 5-year UNESCO project cut them from the mountain relocating them to an artificial cliff high above their original position.
