Itinerary: Jan-Apr 2011

Day 1
Fly from London Gatwick to Luxor. Embark on the SS Misr for seven nights. Sail later to Esna for overnight.

Day 2 Sail to Edfu and visit the temple of Horus. Sail to Kom Ombo and overnight.

Day 3 Visit the temple of Sobek and continue to Aswan. Afternoon cruise by felucca or private boat to Kitchener Island Botanical Gardens and Elephantine Island.

Day 4 Visit to the High Dam and island temple of Philae. Optional Sound & Light performance at Philae.

Day 5 Optional excursion to Abu Simbel (bookable in advance) - £69. Sail later to Edfu.

Day 6 Sail to Luxor. Visit the temple of Karnak and Luxor Museum.

Day 7 Visit the Valley of the Kings, temple of Queen Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon. Luxor Temple private reception (during Sep/Oct a cocktail reception at the Old Winter Palace followed by a visit to the illuminated Luxor Temple).

Day 8 Fly to Cairo and travel to Alexandria for two nights at the 5-star el-Salamlek Palace Hotel.

Day 9 Full-day tour visiting the National Museum, Roman Theatre, Catacombs and Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Day 10 Travel to el-Alamein to view the British and Commonwealth cemeteries and the Military Museum. Continue to Cairo for three nights at the Mena House.

Day 11 Guided visit to the Egyptian Museum. Afternoon excursion to the Citadel, bazaars of Khan el-Khalili and Mohammed Ali Mosque. Optional Sound & Light performance at the Pyramids - £22.

Day 12 Visit the Pyramids and Great Sphinx and later Memphis and Saqqara.

Day 13 Fly to Luxor for two nights at the Old Winter Palace Hotel.

Day 14 At leisure in Luxor.

Day 15 Return flight.
