Optional Excursions

Abu Simbel (by road) - £69
The temples of Abu Simbel are arguably the most remarkable of all Nubian antiquities. They were discovered in the early 19th century after being buried for centuries under a sea of sand in the 1960’s, as the waters of Lake Nasser threatened to engulf them, a 5-year UNESCO project cut them from the mountain relocating them to an artificial cliff high above their original position.

Wadi Rum (Aqaba) - £66
Drive to Wadi Rum, where you will take a 4-wheel drive open-top jeep* through the desert. Carry on driving past majestic mountains, explore a gorge and see ancient rock drawings. Watch the sun set over the desert mountain scenery. After dark drive to a Bedouin camp for dinner and enjoy Bedouin singing and music around a camp fire.
*Please be advised that the jeeps have no seatbelts and are not suitable for anyone with a bad back.
